Details: Contractor Type: Information Security Engineer (Unix) Required Skill Set: Seeking an individual with a solid foundation in Information Security. Candidate should have a strong understanding of Windows and Unix-based operating systems. Applicant must be a self-starter who is able to work independently and has a strong desire to learn new technologies and concepts. Experience with open source technologies such as Snort, OSSEC, tcpdump and syslog is preferable. The ideal candidate would possess the following skills and characteristics: • Advanced knowledge of the Windows operating system (including registry, file system, memory and kernel level operations) • Advanced Windows and Unix system administration skills • Solid understanding of the TCP/IP protocol stack as well as layer 7 protocols (HTTP, SMTP, etc.) • Solid foundation in at least one programming/scripting language (i.e., C/C++, Java, Perl, etc.) • Experience working with a network based IDS/IPS platform • Experience with a host based IDS/IPS platform • Experience reviewing and interpreting network packet captures • Operating system diagnostics and forensics Description of need: Responsible for the research, technical analysis, recommendation, configuration, and administration of systems and procedures to ensure the protection of information processed, stored or transmitted.
